The solar radiation between latitudes 45 degree North and South of the equator corresponds on the average to 1 H.P. per sq.ft. of 7, 000, 000 H.P. per sq.m., so that a very tiny fraction it would suffice to do all the mechanical work of the world thousands of times over.
